Adolescent/ Teen Counseling
I work to help teens understand and overcome their big emotions. To help guide them towards solution, healing, and growth.
Being a teenager is hard and parenting a teenager can be even harder. Most teens who enter counseling feel lost in life on some level and are unsure of how to manage their big emotions. Perhaps this reminds you of your teen. You might have noticed some changes in your teen. Maybe they don’t look forward to much or maybe they’ve started to shy away from the things they used to enjoy. They might be spending more time alone in their bedroom and less time with the family. And when they are with the family, they might be irritable or lethargic.
Whatever it is, you love your teen and want them to have the tools necessary to be a well rounded adult and to live their best life possible.
Does Your Teen Seem Stressed, Irritable, Sad or Anxious?
Do any of these seem familiar:
Your teen lacks the motivation to do anything.
They feel lonely, even when they are with others. They might feel like no one understands.
They describe feeling under an enormous amount of stress
They wake up in the morning feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed.
They feel dread, fear, worried, or have strange thoughts, and a pounding heart.
If this sounds like what your teen is experiencing, I want you to know that even if they are really struggling, nothing is wrong with them or you. What they are experiencing is normal and its okay to ask for help. Teens can benefit from learning how to disconnect from negativity and pressures, to gain a fresh perspective, and to learn how to better handle their thoughts and emotions.
How Counseling Can Help Your Teen
It’s possible to get through the teenage years feeling better. Imagine a life where your teen could:
Get through the sticky parts of life
Control how they respond to anxious thoughts
Have an improved attitude, mood, and ability
Shift into a more positive and hopeful outlook on life
Manage their feelings of sadness and feel more free
Feel capable and confident in who they are
Confide in you when they need extra support
Give your Teen More Confidence
Therapy can help your teen sort through their emotions to rise above challenges and obstacles. To gain hope and perspective that finding balance and ease in life is possible.
Your teen will gain the practical tools they need to cope and deal with life’s stresses and find their way through difficult feelings and situations.
Even if your teen is not usually comfortable opening up to people, counseling may be able to help.
I've helped teens and adolescents with anxiety and depression find their way to feeling more hopeful, capable, and confident in who they are. Through connecting, exploring, and practicing coping tools, teens and adolescents can discover that they can are capable and that they are enough. I am here to help.
